Erasmus students in the laboratory

Erasmus students in an innovative teaching and learning class in the environmental metrology laboratory

In the winter semester 2019/20, a group of Erasmus students was able to dive into the ultramodern topic of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in an intensive course. The course was designed as a winter school in English. The students were able to experience technology and possible application of UAS. They got insight into legal aspects of the use of UAS and digital data streaming during a UAS’s flight back to the ground. Another focus was on the latest applications of UAS from the HSD environmental metrology laboratory (UMT).

Professor Konradin Weber as well as research assistants Martin Lange and Christian Fischer taught the course together, applying the team teaching method. The very highlight of the course was the actual test flight of a UAS conducting environmental measurements on campus.

For several years, Erasmus and other exchange students have regularly had the chance to explore the latest technological innovations of social relevance in a practice-oriented manner.
