It’s been already three years, since the first students of the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering (FB MV) went to visit our partner universities in South Africa. But last winter semester was especially exciting! Local universities started cooperation with the industry.
The students could work on project studies together with the Product Lifecycle Management Competency Center (PLMCC) of Cape Peninsula University (CPUT) and the South African Renewable Energy Technology Centre (SARETEC ) as well as with the industrial partners MTU and the Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. They analysed African energy markets and developed shopfloor-management concepts to optimise maintenance work.
For the first time in our partnership with CPUT, an exchange student has come to spend a semester at the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering of HSD. Since early March, Nadine de Lille has been our guest in Düsseldorf. She is here to do research at the FLiX research centre for life cycle excellence with Professor Niemann and attend master’s courses.
There are already HSD students interested in gaining practical experience in South Africa during winter semester 2018/2019. With in the framework of the joint research activities of South Africa and Düsseldorf, Professor Niemann and his team as well as the International Office at HSD have been active. They can’t wait to hear the evaluation results!
It’s just the beginning…
