On 12 and 13 April 2018, Professor Niemann and his team hosted international colleagues in the context of the Erasmus+ project ELIC. In this cooperative project, participants from Austria, Czech Republic, Italy and Germany intend to reduce the lack of highly qualified, technically educated specialists. In this context, the technical education of teachers and students is one of the success factors for the employment market. ELIC aims to improve knowledge transfer and specialist knowledge in the technical field. Teachers and teaching methods serve as the medium to change the current situation.
During the two-day workshop at HSD, the participants have discussed the analysis of the current state in the partner countries. In particular, this concerned the teaching contents and continuing education offers for natural sciences teachers in the respective countries. From this discussion, they derived contents for the education syllabus they are planning to develop. Professor Niemann and his team are the ones responsible for developing this syllabus.
This EU-funded project started in September 2017 and should be completed within two years. The FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences in Austria leads the project.
