The International Conference on Computational Heat and Mass Transfer (ICCHMT) conference series was initiated in 2009 by Prof. A. A. Mohamad (University of Calgary, Canada). The conference focuses on the research, development and application of computational methods in the field of heat and mass transfer, and provides a platform for scientists and engineers from around the world working in this field to meet regularly and discuss new ideas. The previous 13 conferences in this series were held in various countries, such as Brazil, Canada, China, Cyprus, France, Italy, Poland, South Korea, and Turkey. The current one (14th) was the first conference of this series in Germany, and we are happy that it took place in Düsseldorf, at our university, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ali Cemal Benim.
The conference was opened with an address by our President Prof. Dr. Edeltraud Vomberg, followed by welcoming addresses by Prof. Mohamad and Prof. Benim. The opening ceremony was followed by the technical presentations. The conference was well received by the international heat and mass transfer community with about 240 contributions from about 40 countries. The relatively large number of papers was presented in five parallel sessions during the conference. In addition to the submitted papers, there were 6 invited keynote lectures by outstanding international researchers. The keynote lectures were given by Prof. Dr. Carol Eastwick (University of Nottingham, UK), Prof. Dr. Giancarlo Iaccarino (Stanford University, USA), Prof. Dr. Andreas Kempf (University of Duisburg-Essen), Germany, Prof. Dr. Sylvie Lorente (Villanova University, USA), Prof. Dr. Jan Taler (Cracow University of Technology, Poland) and Prof. Dr. Qiuwang Wang (Xi'an Jiaotong University, P. R. China).
