Admission Requirements

The admission requirements are also stated in the examination regulations (including amendments) of the study programme.

 

Admission is conditional on

  • the successful completion of one of the following bachelor's programmes at the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering at Hochschule Düsseldorf – University of Applied Sciences: Mechanical Engineering – Product Development, Mechanical Engineering –Production Technology, Energy and Environmental Technology, Environmental and Process Technology or
  • a comparable bachelor's degree or Diplom
    with a final overall grade of 2.5 (according to the German grading system) or better.

Alternatively, we accept an equivalent grade according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

Please note: We usually have a lot more applicants than study places. This means that even if you meet all admission requirements, you might not be admitted to the programme.

Language requirements

German language requirements
You do not need to speak German for admission to the study programme.

English language requirements
You must provide proof of English language proficiency of B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

 

Application

Admission to the master's programme Mechanical Engineering is restricted. The programme starts in the summer and winter semester. The usual application deadlines are 15 January forthe summer semester and 15 July for the winter semester. Please note that the deadlines for the winter semester 2020/21 have changed in the context of the coronavirus situation. Read our FAQ for further information.

Graduates from German universities apply via our online application portal (in German only):
bewerbung.hs-duesseldorf.de.

The portal generally opens early or mid-November for summer semester admissions and early or mid-May for winter semester admissions. You cannot apply before the portal opens. You can only apply for the following semester, not a subsequent one.

Please note that certain groups of applicants need to follow different application procedures. Please check the application portal for information.
